قافلے گئے پھر بھی کچھ غبار باقی ہے
دید کا تری اب تک انتظار باقی ہے
دل کو ٹوٹنا ہی تھا ٹوٹ کے وہ بکھرا بھی
ہاں مگر ابھی تک کچھ یادگار باقی ہے
ڈوبتی رہی کشتی ساگروں کی لہروں میں
ساحلوں پہ تم ہوں گے اعتبار باقی ہے
چاند خود مسافر ہے ساتھ کب تلک دے گا
رہبروں کا اب بھی کیوں انتظار باقی ہے
پھول بکھرے راہوں میں ہے حسیں سفر لیکن
راستے میں اب بھی کچھ خار زار باقی ہے
ختم ہو ہی جائے گی تیرگی غموں کی اب
صبح ہونے والی ہے انتظار باقی ہے
زندگی جو جینا ہے اس کے واسطے اے شادؔ
ڈھیر ساری خوشیوں کا آبشار باقی ہے

han magar abhi tak kuchh yaadgar baqi hai
Dubti rahi kashti sagaron ki lahron mein
sahilon pe tum honge e'tibar baqi hai
chand KHud musafir hai sath kab talak dega
rahbaron ka ab bhi kyun intizar baqi hai
phul bikhre rahon mein hai hasin safar lekin
raste mein ab bhi kuchh KHar-zar baqi hai
KHatm ho hi jaegi tirgi ghamon ki ab
subh hone wali hai intizar baqi hai
zindagi jo jina hai us ke waste ai 'shad'
Dher sari KHushiyon ka aabshaar baqi hai
