اس شب کا احوال نقش ہے

اب تک جمال نقش ہے

کیا مکھڑا تھا تیرا، دلنشیں

تھا جو بھی کمال، نقش ہے

کتنے ہی لوگ اب تک اس میں

بیسوں ہیں یرغمال، نقش ہے

نہ صرف میرا، بیسوں کا بیاں ہے

کچھ تو تھا اس شب مہِ جمال، نقش ہے

ہمارے پاس از شواھد تو نہیں کچھ

مگر قلب توشمال، نقش ہے

کچھ تلخیاں بھی تھیں اس شب

قلب میں عقیلؔ، ملال نقش ہے
