مجھ کو تو اپنی اوقات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

ویران بوسیدہ کھنڈرات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

یعنی کہ اپنی ہی ذات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

دیواروں کے کانوں سے خوف آتا ہے

ہر ان کہی بات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

ہر ایک سے مسکرا کے ملتے ہیں

آپ کی بے تکلف عنایات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

پانی کے مسئلے پہ خون کی ندیاں بہتی تھیں

اپنے خون آمیز تاریخی واقعات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

کانپتی ہیں نسیں دماغ کی، خیالِ فراقِ یار سے

سچ تو یہ ہے کہ ان خیالات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

تجھے کھونے کا حوصلہ تو ہے مگر وہ رقیب

کم ظرف کے ہاتھوں اپنی مات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

دل کو چیخنے نہ دیا، آنکھ کو رونے نہ دیا

گرجتے بادلوں سے برسات سے ڈر لگتا ہے

ڈرتا ہوں کہ کوئی اور خرید نہ لے خواب میرے

شہریار مجھ کو تو اپنی اوقات سے ڈر لگتا ہے
