دل شکستہ ہے روح پیاسی ہے
ایک بے نام سی اداسی ہے
رنج کیا عیش کیا تمیز کسے
سلسلہ وار بد حواسی ہے
صاف گوئی کہ وصف تھی پہلے
ان دنوں جرم ناروا سی ہے
کتنا آساں ہے معتبر ہونا
کتنی دشوار خود شناسی ہے
میری عصیاں نگاہی کا موجب
آپ کی مختصر لباسی ہے
تھوڑی جرأت سے کیا نہیں ہوتا
پھر وہ لڑکی بھی آدی باسی ہے
میرے شعروں میں فن نہیں نہ سہی
آپ کی رائے اقتباسی ہے
ریشمی زلف چاند سا چہرہ
سر پہ آنچل مگر کپاسی ہے
پیاسی پیاسی ہے آرزو افضلؔ
مملکت دل کی کربلا سی ہے

silsila-war bad-hawasi hai
saf-goi ki wasf thi pahle
in dinon jurm-e-narawa si hai
kitna aasan hai mo'atabar hona
kitni dushwar KHud-shanasi hai
meri isyan-nigahi ka maujib
aap ki muKHtasar-libasi hai
thoDi jurat se kya nahin hota
phir wo laDki bhi aadi-basi hai
mere sheron mein fan nahin na sahi
aap ki rae iqtibasi hai
reshmi zulf chand-sa chehra
sar pe aanchal magar kapasi hai
pyasi pyasi hai aarzu 'afzal'
mamlikat dil ki karbala si hai
