شعر و سخن کی اس محفل میں سب سے چھوٹے ہم ہی تھے

سب سے اونچے منصب والے کھوٹے سکے ہم ہی تھے

یاد ہمیں ہے تم بھی سوچو وقت پڑا جب اردو پر

سب تھے الجھی بھاشا والے اردو والے ہم ہی تھے

دولت شہرت حکمت والے سب ہیں تیرے دم کے ساتھ

دنیا تیری ساری رونق چھوڑ کے بیٹھے ہم ہی تھے

ٹوٹ چکے سب رشتے ناتے آگے پیچھے راہیں تھیں

تیرا بن کے رہنے والے مارے باندھے ہم ہی تھے

دنیا ہم سے لیتی کیا اور ہم دنیا کو دیتے کیا

سب تھے سیدھے سادے بزدل آڑے ترچھے ہم ہی تھے

ہم تھے اپنے آگے پیچھے اور نظر میں کوئی نہ تھا

ایسا سرمہ انورؔ اپنی آنکھ میں ڈالے ہم ہی تھے

TuT chuke sab rishte nate aage pichhe rahen thin
tera ban ke rahne wale mare-bandhe hum hi the
