jabr-e-shahi ka sirf baghawat ilaj hai
apna azal se ek husaini mizaj hai

aage to zahr-e-ishq mein sab zahr the ghule
ab shairi ki jaan rag-e-ehtijaj hai

aali nazar ke sher pe tikhe mubahise
be-nur aalimon ka maraz la-ilaj hai

har aan hain dimagh mein afkar-e-shab-nawaz
is gham ki saltanat mein bas ek dil siraj hai

kya di hai lab-kushai ki qimat use bhi dekh
is daftar-e-nawa mein sabhi indiraj hai

is sondhi miTTiyon ne diya rang o zaiqa
hiron se baDh ke aab mein mulki anaj hai

'iqbaal' ki nawa se musharraf hai go 'naim'
urdu ke sar pe 'mir' ki ghazlon ka taj hai
