اک معمہ بشر کی ہستی ہے

جان دیتے ہیں لوگ باطل پر

کیسا انداز حق پرستی ہے

آج مر مر کے جی رہے ہیں لوگ

کتنا دلچسپ خواب ہستی ہے

مفلسی بڑھ گئی ہے اس درجہ

موت کو زندگی ترستی ہے

اب یہ حالت ہوئی ہے اے اقبالؔ

زندگی موت کو ترستی ہے
