ہم ترے شہر میں رہتے ہیں امیروں کی طرح
کر دیا قید ہمیں وقت کی دیواروں نے
ورنہ ہم لوگ بھی تھے چھوٹتے تیروں کی طرح
شام کو ڈوبتے سورج کی چمکتی سرخی
دور تک پھیل گئی خونی جزیروں کی طرح
جب بھی آتی ہے کوئی فتنہ جگا دیتی ہے
تیری مسکان ترے لب پہ شریروں کی طرح
یہ ملا مجھ کو صلہ میری وفا کا سیرت
لکھ دیا نام مرا اس نے لکیروں کی طرح

warna hum log bhi the chhuTte tiron ki tarah
sham ko Dubte suraj ki chamakti surKHi
dur tak phail gai KHuni jaziron ki tarah
jab bhi aati hai koi fitna jaga deti hai
teri muskan tere lab pe shariron ki tarah
ye mila mujh ko sila meri wafa ka sirat
likh diya nam mera us ne lakiron ki tarah
