دھوکے پہ دھوکہ اس طرح کھاتے چلے گئے
ہم دشمنوں کو دوست بناتے چلے گئے
ہر زخم زندگی کو گلے سے لگا لیا
ہم زندگی سے یوں ہی نبھاتے چلے گئے
وہ نفرتوں کا بوجھ لیے گھومتے رہے
ہم چاہتوں کو ان پہ لٹاتے چلے گئے
جو خواب زندگی کی حقیقت نہ بن سکا
اس کے حسیں فریب میں آتے چلے گئے
روبیؔ چھپانا درد کو آساں نہ تھا مگر
ہم آڑ میں ہنسی کی چھپاتے چلے گئے

jo KHwab zindagi ki haqiqat na ban saka
us ke hasin fareb mein aate chale gae
'rubi' chhupana dard ko aasan na tha magar
hum aaD mein hansi ki chhupate chale gae
