تری تلاش میں گزرے کئی زمانے مجھے
خدا ہی جانے تو جانے ہے یا نہ جانے مجھے
دھواں دھواں ہیں جہاں پر خیال کی راہیں
مثال گرد اڑایا تری ہوا نے مجھے
نہ اس طرح مجھے دیکھو کہ جیسے پتھر ہوں
جو ہو سکے تو پکاروں کسی بہانے مجھے
وہ بات بات پہ ہنسنا تری ادا ہی سہی
تمام عمر رلایا ہے اس ادا نے مجھے
لگا ہے جب بھی کوئی زخم مسکرایا ہوں
یہ تاب دی ہے ترے درد لا دوا نے مجھے
تصورات کے صحرا میں جل بجھا ہوں سلیمؔ
نہ چھاؤں بخشی کسی حسن گل ردا نے مجھے

dhuan dhuan hain jahan par KHayal ki rahen
misal-e-gard uDaya teri hawa ne mujhe
na is tarah mujhe dekho ki jaise patthar hun
jo ho sake to pukaron kisi bahane mujhe
wo baat baat pe hansna teri ada hi sahi
tamam umr rulaya hai is ada ne mujhe
laga hai jab bhi koi zaKHm muskuraya hun
ye tab di hai tere dard-e-la-dawa ne mujhe
tasawwuraat ke sahra mein jal bujha hun 'salim'
na chhanw baKHshi kisi husn-e-gul-rida ne mujhe
