جہاں ہے مکتب ہستی سبق ہے چپ رہنا

بڑا گناہ یہاں ہے الف سے بے کہنا

شب فراق میں سائے سے ڈر کے کہتا ہوں

اجی یہ رات ڈرانی ہے جاگتے رہنا

چمن میں پھول کھلے باغ میں بہار آئی

عروس دہر نے گویا پہن لیا گہنا

ہماری آہ و بکا سے ہے جسم شوق قوی

یہ ہاتھ بایاں ہے اپنا وہ ہاتھ ہے دہنا

فغان بلبل شیدا نہ جانیے اس کو

بجا رہا ہے کوئی صحن باغ میں شحنہ

غم فراق میں اے آسماں نہیں موقوف

وہ جو سہائیں مجھے مجھ کو ہر طرح سہنا

نکال دے کہ ہے ایسے میں جوئے اشک رواں

برا ہے بات کا اے چشم دل میں لے رہنا

گلی میں یار کی ہو یا کسی خرابے میں

ہمیں تو حشر کے دن تک کہیں پہ مر رہنا

اثر بھی شادؔ کے شعروں میں ہے متانت بھی

یہ کہنہ مشق ہیں ان کی غزل کا کیا کہنا
