نہ جاں بازوں کا مجمع تھا نہ مشتاقوں کا میلا تھا

خدا جانے کہاں مرتا تھا میں جب تو اکیلا تھا

گھروندا یوں کھڑا تو کر لیا ہے آرزوؤں کا

تماشا ہے جو وہ کہہ دیں کہ میں اک کھیل کھیلا تھا

بہت سستے چھٹے اے موت بازار محبت میں

یہ سودا وہ ہے جس میں کیا کہیں کیا کیا جھمیلا تھا

اگر تقدیر میں ہوتا تو اک دن پار بھی لگتا

یہ دریا جھیلنے کو یوں تو اے دل خوب جھیلا تھا

ہمیشہ حسرت دیدار پر دل نے قناعت کی

بڑے در کا مجاور تھا بڑے مرشد کا چیلا تھا

کہاں دل اور فسون عشق کی گھاتیں کہاں یا رب

نہ پڑنا تھا بلاؤں میں ابھی کم بخت انیلا تھا

جہاں چاہے لگے جس دل کو چاہے چور کر ڈالے

زباں سے پھیک مارا بات تھی ناصح کہ ڈھیلا تھا

تماشا گاہ دنیا میں بتاؤں کیا امیدوں کی

تن تنہا تھا میں اے شادؔ اور ریلوں پہ ریلا تھا
