وہ اور کچھ نہیں اک طرز گفتگو کی تھی

کہا یہ کس نے کبھی تیری آرزو کی تھی

کبھی بھی اپنی طبیعت نہ جنگجو کی تھی

وہاں انا کی نہیں بات آبرو کی تھی

جو زخم تھا تو ذرا خون ہی ٹپکتا تھا

جلن تمام ترے سوزن رفو کی تھی

ترا جمال تھا یا تھا طلسم ہوش ربا

للک عجیب سے مجھ میں بھی جستجو کی تھی

سمندروں کا وہ غصہ تھا یا زمیں کا عتاب

تمام شورش طوفاں مرے لہو کی تھی

گماں گماں ہے گماں ہی رہے تو اچھا ہے

صدائے قلقل مینا طلب سبو کی تھی

دہان زخم کہاں تھا شمیمؔ کیا معلوم

لہو اچھال کی شدت رگ گلو کی تھی

kaha ye kis ne kabhi teri aarzu ki thi

kabhi bhi apni tabiat na jang-ju ki thi
wahan ana ki nahin baat aabru ki thi

jo zaKHm tha to zara KHun hi Tapakta tha
jalan tamam tere sozan-e-rafu ki thi

tera jamal tha ya tha tilism-e-hosh-ruba
lalak ajib se mujh mein bhi justuju ki thi

samundaron ka wo ghussa tha ya zamin ka itab
tamam shorish-e-tufan mere lahu ki thi

guman guman hai guman hi rahe to achchha hai
sada-e-qulqul-e-mina talab subu ki thi

dahan-e-zaKHm kahan tha 'shamim' kya malum
lahu uchhaal ki shiddat rag-e-gulu ki thi
