میرے حصے میں بے دلی آئی

موت آئی نہ زندگی آئی

کوئی منظر کھلا نہ آنکھوں میں

جو بھی رت آئی شبنمی آئی

لہر سی دور تک اٹھی دل میں

آج پھر یاد آپ کی آئی

کوئی لمحہ چمک اٹھا شاید

ورنہ آنکھوں میں کیوں نمی آئی

آئنہ دیکھا دیکھ کر رویا

خود کو سوچا تو پھر ہنسی آئی

اب تو ہر شہر شہر مقتل ہے

جو ہوا آئی چیختی آئی

آگہی کر گئی بہت گمراہ

کام آئی تو عاشقی آئی

شب بلاتی ہے وحشتوں کو شمیمؔ

کیا قیامت کی چاندنی آئی

maut aai na zindagi aai

koi manzar khula na aankhon mein
jo bhi rut aai shabnami aai

lahr si dur tak uThi dil mein
aaj phir yaad aap ki aai

koi lamha chamak uTha shayad
warna aankhon mein kyun nami aai

aaina dekha dekh kar roya
KHud ko socha to phir hansi aai

ab to har shahr shahr-e-maqtal hai
jo hua aai chiKHti aai

aagahi kar gai bahut gumrah
kaam aai to aashiqi aai

shab bulati hai wahshaton ko 'shamim'
kya qayamat ki chandni aai
