کہیں شمع کوئی فروزاں نہیں تھی

فلک پر بھی کوئی ستارہ نہیں تھا

بہت تھا اگر آپ ہوتے ہمارے

جہاں تو کبھی بھی ہمارا نہیں تھا

رہا درمیاں اک سمندر ہمیشہ

سمندر کہ جس کا کنارا نہیں تھا

خدا کو خبر ہم کہاں جا رہے تھے

کہیں روشنی کا اشارہ نہیں تھا

ارادے توانا جواں حوصلے تھے

ہمیں اور کوئی سہارا نہیں تھا

تمہیں ساتھ رہنے میں رقبت نہیں تھی

ہمیں دور رہنا گوارا نہیں تھا

اجازت بہت تھی ضروری عزیزوں

ہمیں تو کسی نے پکارا نہیں تھا

کتابیں زمانہ غلط ہے پڑھاتا

محبت میں اتنا خسارہ نہیں تھا

صداقت بھی کیا بھول بیٹھا زمانہ

ہمارا نہیں ہے تمہارا نہیں تھا

نہ ہوتی ہمیں اب محبّت بھی وارث

اگر تم نہ ہوتے گزارا نہیں تھا
