بات یہ خوب نکالی مرے افسانے سے

زندگی اپنی نظر آنے لگی صرف سراب

کبھی گزرے جو دل زار کے ویرانے سے

ایک پل بھی نہ ٹھہر پاؤ گے اے سنگ زنو

کوئی پتھر کبھی لوٹ آیا جو دیوانے سے

تم کو مرنا ہے تو مرنا مرے گل ہونے پر

شمع کہتی رہی شب بھر یہی پروانے سے

پھر نہ دیکھا تجھے اے جوشؔ سکوں سے بیٹھا

جب سے اٹھا ہے تو اس شوخ کے کاشانے سے
