کوئی ٹھوکر اس نے جب کھائی نہ تھی

زندگی یہ راہ پر آئی نہ تھی

آپ کی باتیں تھیں باتیں ہی فقط

آپ کی باتوں میں گہرائی نہ تھی

ہر قدم پر رنج و غم تھے منتظر

کس جگہ میری پذیرائی نہ تھی

زندگی تھی اک سکوت مستقل

مشکلوں سے جب شناسائی نہ تھی

آپ کی یادیں تھیں دل کے آس پاس

زندگی میں کوئی تنہائی نہ تھی

ایک بھی پوری نہ ہو پائی کرنؔ

کون سی اس نے قسم کھائی نہ تھی

koi Thokar is ne jab khai na thi
zindagi ye rah par aai na thi

aap ki baaten thin baaten hi faqat
aap ki baaton mein gahrai na thi

har qadam par ranj-o-gham the muntazir
kis jagah meri pazirai na thi

zindagi thi ek sukut-e-mustaqil
mushkilon se jab shanasai na thi

aap ki yaaden thin dil ke aas pas
zindagi mein koi tanhai na thi

ek bhi puri na ho pai 'karan'
kaun si us ne qasam khai na thi
