رات کی آنکھ میں میرے لئے کچھ خواب بھی تھے
یہ الگ بات کہ ہر خواب میں گرداب بھی تھے
زندگی بانجھ سی عورت تھی کہ جس کے دل میں
بوند کی پیاس بھی تھی آنکھ میں سیلاب بھی تھے
زخم کیوں رسنے لگے اک ترے چھو لینے سے
دکھ سمندر تھے مگر موجۂ پایاب بھی تھے
چاند کی کرنوں میں آہٹ ترے قدموں کی سنی
اور پھر چاند کے ڈھل جانے کو بیتاب بھی تھے
تجھ سے جو لمحہ ملا لمحۂ مشروط ملا
وصل کی ساعتوں میں ہجر کے آداب بھی تھے
اژدہا پانیوں کا شہر نوا ٹوٹ گیا
ماتمی آنکھ میں آنسو مرے بے آب بھی تھے
کتنا آباد مرے ساتھ تھا سایوں کا ہجوم
کیسے تنہائی کے صحرا تھے جو شاداب بھی تھے

zindagi banjh si aurat thi ki jis ke dil mein
bund ki pyas bhi thi aankh mein sailab bhi the
zaKHm kyun risne lage ek tere chhu lene se
dukh samundar the magar mauja-e-payab bhi the
chand ki kirnon mein aahaT tere qadmon ki suni
aur phir chand ke Dhal jaane ko betab bhi the
tujh se jo lamha mila lamha-e-mashrut mila
wasl ki saaton mein hijr ke aadab bhi the
azhdaha paniyon ka shahr-e-nawa TuT gaya
matami aankh mein aansu mere be-ab bhi the
kitna aabaad mere sath tha sayon ka hujum
kaise tanhai ke sahra the jo shadab bhi the
