جز دست لطف کچھ نہ چاہیں

سہمی ہوئی ملتجی نگاہیں

گلدان میں تازہ پھول دیکھے

دو چند ہوئیں ہماری آہیں

ہیں خلوت بے کسی میں گریاں

سن کر تہذیب کی کراہیں

چلنا تھا بچھڑ کے بھی بہت کچھ

تم کٹ گئے پر کٹی نہ راہیں

پتے تھے بچھڑ کے موت ہی تھی

جاں دینے پہ لوگ کیوں سراہیں

ہم بھول گئے ہیں چشم بستن

دیکھی تھیں تری کشادہ بانہیں

سہہ خنجر خندہ تیر طعنہ

اپنی اقدار سے نباہیں

sahmi hui multaji nigahen

gul-dan mein taza phul dekhe
do chand huin hamari aahen

hain KHalwat-e-be-kasi mein giryan
sun kar tahzib ki karahen

chalna tha bichhaD ke bhi bahut kuchh
tum kaT gae par kaTi na rahen

patte the bichhaD ke maut hi thi
jaan dene pe log kyon sarahen

hum bhul gae hain chashm-bastan
dekhi thin teri kushada banhen

sah KHanjar-e-KHanda tir-e-tana
apni aqdar se nibahen
