سر پہ تیغ بے اماں ہاتھوں میں پیالہ زہر کا

کس طرح ہونٹوں پہ لاؤں حال اپنے شہر کا

بہہ رہے ہیں پانیوں میں گھر سفینوں کی طرح

ساحلوں سے اس طرح اچھلا ہے پانی نہر کا

اس بدن پر اب قبائے شہریاری تنگ ہے

جس نے چھینا ہے کفن تک ہر غریب شہر کا

رنگ آنکھوں میں عجب قوس قزح کے گھل گئے

دیدنی ہے موج میں آنا لہو کی لہر کا

دشمنی کی مے تو چھلکی ہے بہت محسنؔ مگر

ذائقہ کچھ اور ہی ہے دوستی کے زہر کا
