حرف کی جوگن لفظ لے ناگ جنم دیتی ھے
کُچھ زُلفوں کو وقت کی دیوی خم دیتی ھے
ایسا بچّہ ماں سے باغی ھو جاتا ھے
جِس کو ماں بھی پیار میں حصّہ کم دیتی ھے
شوہر دِن بھر دُھوپ میں مزدُوری کرتا ھے
اُس پر بِیوی کی بِیماری غم دیتی ھے
اچّھی ماں جو ھوتی ھے، رُخصت کے وقت
وہ بیٹی کو لاج کی لاکھ قسم دیتی ھے
اپنے اپنے بھاگ ہیں، اپنا اپنا لکھا
قِسمت مُجھ کو بس مغرُور صنم دیتی ھے
جِس کو خُون پسِینے سے سِینچا ھے برسوں
وہ دھرتی دہقان کی آنکھ کو نم دیتی ھے
گاھے گاھے مِلنا ھی بہتر ھے حسرتؔ
روز مِلن کی رُت آخِر ماتم دیتی ھے
