ہم ملے بھی تو بڑے فاصلے حائل تھے لگا
وقت برسوں کا فقط چند دقیقوں میں کٹا
وہ جو پہلے سی مروت تھی مروت ہی رہی
دل کے مل جانے کی حسرت تھی وہ حسرت ہی رہی
منہ کھلے لفظ مگر قید زباں ہی میں رہے
کتنی یادوں کے دفینے رگ جاں ہی میں رہے
ہم نے دن رات مشقت کے گزارے کیسے
پھول باسی ہوئے ہر شوق کے کیا کیا کہئے

wo jo pahle si murawwat thi murawwat hi rahi
dil ke mil jaane ki hasrat thi wo hasrat hi rahi
munh khule lafz magar qaid zaban hi mein rahe
kitni yaadon ke dafine rag-e-jaan hi mein rahe
hum ne din-raat mashaqqat ke guzare kaise
phul basi hue har shauq ke kya kya kahiye
