کسی شب اس کو بے پردہ تو آنا چاہیے تھا

ہمارے ظرف کو بھی آزمانا چاہیے تھا

خیالوں میں نہ آنے کی اسے تاکید کی ہے

مگر پھر بھی شکایت ہے کہ آنا چاہئے تھا

ہم آخر کار شیشے میں اتر جاتے کسی دن

تمھیں اک اور نسخہ آزمانا چاہیے تھے

سبھی سے دلّگی کرنا جو ہے فطرت تمہاری

تو یہ سب کچھ تمھیں پہلے بتانا چاہیے تھا

مجھے امّید تھی وہ مان جاۓ گا بہت جلد

مگر اس کو تو شائد اک زمانہ چاہیے تھا

تمنّا تھی مری خوشیوں سے بھر دوں اسکا دامن

اسے لیکن غموں کا کارخانہ چاہیے تھا

بہت مشکل سے بنتا ہے جہاں میں کوئی اپنا

تمھیں ہر حال میں رشتہ نبھانا چاہیے تھا

گماں تھا شاؔد اس کو مجھ سے الفت ہو گئی ہے

اسے رونے کو لیکن میرا شانہ چاہیے تھا
