خدا سے وقت دعا ہم سوال کر بیٹھے

وہ بت بھی دل کو ذرا اب سنبھال کر بیٹھے

کیا ہے آنکھ کی گردش سے پیس کر سرمہ

وہ بے چلے ہی مجھے پائمال کر بیٹھے

تمام عمر پریشاں رکھا دم آخر

بلا سے میری پریشاں وہ بال کر بیٹھے

چلے ہیں طور کو موسیٰ مگر ہمیں مطلب

کہ ہم بتوں ہی میں یہ دیکھ بھال کر بیٹھے

رواں ہیں اشک کسی کے فراق میں یا رب

کوئی نہ پرسش وجہ ملال کر بیٹھے

برا ہو الفت خوباں کا ہم نشیں ہم تو

شباب ہی میں برا اپنا حال کر بیٹھے

نہ علم ہے نہ زباں ہے تو کس لیے محرومؔ

تم اپنے آپ کو شاعر خیال کر بیٹھے
