دوستی میں دل جو ٹوٹا دشمنی اچھی لگی
روشنی میں لٹ گئے تو تیرگی اچھی لگی
دیکھ کر اونچے مکانوں میں امیروں کے چلن
ہم کو اپنی جھونپڑی میں مفلسی اچھی لگی
زندگی سے کوئی دلچسپی نہ تھی ہم کو مگر
حادثے میں بچ گئے تو زندگی اچھی لگی
خیر سے اس کی جواں بیٹی جو رخصت ہو گئی
آج برسوں بعد اس کو نیند بھی اچھی لگی
تھا ہمارے ساتھ منزل کا تصور اے شکیلؔ
دوپہر کی چلچلاتی دھوپ بھی اچھی لگی

hadse mein bach gae to zindagi achchhi lagi
KHair se us ki jawan beTi jo ruKHsat ho gai
aaj barson baad us ko nind bhi achchhi lagi
tha hamare sath manzil ka tasawwur ai 'shakil'
dopahar ki chilchilati dhup bhi achchhi lagi
