خواہشوں کی کتاب تھے جب تھے

زندگی کا نصاب تھے جب تھے

اپنی انگلی پکڑ کے چلتے تھے

خود کو ہم دستیاب تھے جب تھے

طاق ماضی کے یہ اداس دیے

شوق میں آفتاب تھے جب تھے

اپنی آنکھوں میں اب کھٹکتے ہیں

چشم یاراں کا خواب تھے جب تھے

اب میسر کہاں ہیں خود کو بھی

ہاں ترے بے حساب تھے جب تھے

یہ جو آنکھیں بجھی بجھی ہیں ناں

ان میں بھی چند خواب تھے جب تھے

اب جو سوکھے پڑے ہیں قبروں پر

یہ بھی تازہ گلاب تھے جب تھے

KHud ko hum dastiyab the jab the

taq-e-mazi ke ye udas diye
shauq mein aaftab the jab the

apni aankhon mein ab khaTakte hain
chashm-e-yaran ka KHwab the jab the

ab mayassar kahan hain KHud ko bhi
han tere be-hisab the jab the

ye jo aankhen bujhi bujhi hain nan
