یہ شہر ذات بہت ہے اگر بنایا جائے

تو کائنات کو کیوں درد سر بنایا جائے

ذرا سی دیر کو رک کر کسی جزیرے پر

سمندروں کا سفر مختصر بنایا جائے

اب ایک خیمہ لگے دشمنوں کی بستی میں

دعائے شب کو نشان سحر بنایا جائے

یہی کٹے ہوئے بازو علم کیے جائیں

یہی پھٹا ہوا سینہ سپر بنایا جائے

سنا یہ ہے کہ وہ دریا اتر گیا آخر

تو آؤ پھر اسی ریتی پہ گھر بنایا جائے

عجب مصاف سکوت و سخن میں جاری ہے

کسے وسیلۂ عرض ہنر بنایا جائے
