اس کڑی دھوپ کے سناٹے میں حیران ہوا

گھر سے جو بھی نکل آیا وہ پشیمان ہوا

حسرتیں خاک اڑاتی ہیں ہر اک قریے میں

دل کہ اک شہر نگاراں تھا بیابان ہوا

مدتیں گزریں تو اک قطرہ گہر بن پایا

صدیاں بیتیں تو کہیں آدمی انسان ہوا

سر ساحل تھے تو یہ سیل بلا کچھ بھی نہ تھا

زد میں جب آئے تو اندازۂ طوفان ہوا

ہم سر طور بھی پہنچے مگر اے حسن ازل

تیرے ملنے کا نہ پھر بھی کوئی امکان ہوا

سر جھکائے ہوئے کیوں بیٹھے ہیں ارباب وفا

مرحلہ کون سا مشکل تھا جو آسان ہوا

نہ در و بام پہ رونق نہ جھروکوں میں بہار

دل ویراں کی طرح شہر بھی سنسان ہوا

تو بھی اس غم کدۂ دہر میں آ کر محسنؔ

بوئے گل کی طرح آوارۂ حیران ہوا
