کیا بوجھ تھی کہ سر سے اتاری ہے زندگی

مقتل تھے گام گام یہ رستہ طویل تھا

اپنے لہو سے ہم نے سنواری ہے زندگی

کرتی ہے خود تلاش یہ کانٹوں کا راستہ

اس واسطے سکون سے عاری ہے زندگی

قائم ہے ایک فاصلہ دونوں کے درمیاں

شک اور یقیں کے ساتھ اب جاری ہے زندگی

میں جانتی ہوں زندگی ہے کرب و اضطراب

سانسوں کے بوجھ سے بڑی بھاری ہے زندگی

شاہینؔ اپنی ہار پر ہے مطمئن کہ بس

اک جیت کے لئے ہی تو ہاری ہے زندگی
