جشن غم حیات منانے نہیں دیا
اس مفلسی نے زہر بھی کھانے نہیں دیا
ہم نے جو سادہ لوحی میں کھایا کوئی فریب
پھر وہ فریب اوروں کو کھانے نہیں دیا
آندھی نے روشنی کی حمایت تو کی بہت
لیکن کوئی چراغ جلانے نہیں دیا
اک آدھ گھر تو جل گیا پر شہر بچ گیا
اب کے دیے کا ساتھ ہوا نے نہیں دیا
راضی تھا میں بھی اور مرا دشمن بھی صلح پر
کچھ دوستوں نے ہاتھ ملانے نہیں دیا

hum ne jo sada-lauhi mein khaya koi fareb
phir wo fareb auron ko khane nahin diya
aandhi ne raushni ki himayat to ki bahut
lekin koi charagh jalane nahin diya
ik-adh ghar to jal gaya par shahr bach gaya
ab ke diye ka sath hawa ne nahin diya
raazi tha main bhi aur mera dushman bhi sulh par
kuchh doston ne hath milane nahin diya
