میں پچھلی رات کیا جانے کہاں تھا

دعاؤں کا بھی لہجہ بے زباں تھا

ہوا گم سم تھی سونا آشیاں تھا

پرندہ رات بھر جانے کہاں تھا

ہواؤں میں اڑا کرتے تھے ہم بھی

ہمارے سامنے بھی آسماں تھا

مری تقدیر تھی آوارہ گردی

مرا سارا قبیلہ بے مکاں تھا

مزے سے سو رہی تھی ساری بستی

جہاں میں تھا وہیں شاید دھواں تھا

میں اپنی لاش پر آنسو بہاتا

مجھے دکھ تھا مگر اتنا کہاں تھا

سفر کاٹا ہے کتنی مشکلوں سے

وہاں سایہ نہ تھا پانی جہاں تھا

کہاں سے آ گئی یہ خود نمائی

وہیں پھینک آؤ آئینہ جہاں تھا

میں قتل عام کا شاہد ہوں قیصرؔ

کہ بستی میں مرا اونچا مکاں تھا
