شام تھی ہم تھے اور سمندر تھا

رفیق خیال

شام تھی ہم تھے اور سمندر تھا

کس قدر دل فریب منظر تھا

اک طرف تھی خوشی اجالوں کی

اک طرف شام ہونے کا ڈر تھا

تھے پریشان تیر نظروں کے

جب تلک دل مرا ہدف پر تھا

وہ تھا کمسن یہ سچ سہی لیکن

حسرتوں میں مرے برابر تھا

دل تو تھا مطمئن رفاقت میں

خوف سا دھڑکنوں کے اندر تھا

اپنے ہاتھوں اسے گنوایا ہے

جس میں پنہاں مرا مقدر تھا

اس کی رنگین قربتوں کے سبب

رات جنت نما مرا گھر تھا

شہر جاں کی اداس گلیوں میں

مشتعل خواہشوں کا لشکر تھا

شور کمرے میں تھا قیامت کا

چپ کا عالم خیالؔ باہر تھا
