سو بار مشت راکھ سے ابھرے بھسم ہوئے

ہم نے خراج ہستی چکایا تو ہم ہوئے

جس وقت تو نے فرط محبت میں اپنا آپ

گرد رہ طلب میں مٹایا تو ہم ہوئے

جس نے حدیث دل کو پڑھا چشم عقل سے

شاعر تو بے شمار ہوئے ہم سے کم ہوئے

اپنا تو صرف ایک عقیدہ ہے اور وہ عشق

لوگوں کے لاکھ فرقے مسالک دھرم ہوئے

hum ne KHiraj-e-hasti chukaya to hum hue

jis waqt tu ne fart-e-mohabbat mein apna aap
gard-e-rah-e-talab mein miTaya to hum hue

jis ne hadis-e-dil ko paDha chashm-e-aql se
shair to be-shumar hue hum se kam hue
