ندامت سے سبکساری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

صداقت سے گراں باری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

مزاجوں میں وہ مکاری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

دلوں کو سچ سے بے زاری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

تخیل میں بظاہر انقلاب آیا تو ہے لیکن

ستم کی گرم بازاری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

سمجھتے تھے کہ آزادی مسرت لے کے آئے گی

غریبی اور ناداری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

نہیں اب تک ہمارے ظاہر و باطن میں یک رنگی

نمائش اور مکاری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

فرنگی کی اسیری سے تو آزادی ملی لیکن

غلامی کی فضا طاری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

زمانہ کچھ کہے لیکن یہ اک روشن حقیقت ہے

رضیؔ اپنی وضع داری جو پہلے تھی سو اب بھی ہے

nadamat se subuk-sari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
sadaqat se giran-bari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
mizajon mein wo makkari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
dilon ko sach se be-zari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
taKHayyul mein ba-zahir inqalab aaya to hai lekin
sitam ki garm-bazari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
samajhte the ki aazadi masarrat le ke aaegi
gharibi aur nadari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
nahin ab tak hamare zahir-o-baatin mein yak-rangi
numaish aur makkari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
farangi ki asiri se to aazadi mili lekin
ghulami ki faza tari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
zamana kuchh kahe lekin ye ek raushan haqiqat hai
'razi' apni waza-dari jo pahle thi so ab bhi hai
