یہ کہو یہ نہ کہو ایسے کہو ایسے نہیں

سن اے نقاد تری گود کے ہم پالے نہیں

ہم چھڑے چھانٹ یک و تنہا ادب کا میداں

کوئی ہم زلف نہیں اور سسر سالے نہیں

مومن و کافر و مشرک نہ تو مرتد ملحد

اپنے ڈانڈے تو کسی سے بھی کہیں ملتے نہیں

روکھی پھیکی سی کبھی چٹنی کہیں سادی سی دال

اپنی غزلوں کے مقدر میں سری پائے نہیں

بڑی نا سمجھی ہے ہر شے کا سمجھ لینا بھی

ذہن افکار سے عاری ہے اگر جالے نہیں

تف ہے ان آنکھوں پہ جو خود میں الجھ کر رہ جائیں

وہ نگہ کیا جو یہاں تاکے وہاں جھانکے نہیں

بے نیازانہ جیے جاتے ہیں اپنی دھن میں

بانکپن کھو نہ کہیں جائے نہیں ہائے نہیں

ye kaho ye na kaho aise kaho aise nahin
sun ai naqqad teri god ke hum pale nahin

hum chhiDe-chhanT yak-o-tanha adab ka maidan
koi ham-zulf nahin aur sasur sale nahin

momin o kafir o mushrik na to murtad mulhid
apne DanDe to kisi se bhi kahin milte nahin

rukhi-phiki si kabhi chaTni kahin sadi si dal
apni ghazlon ke muqaddar mein siri-pae nahin

baDi na-samjhi hai har shai ka samajh lena bhi
zehn afkar se aari hai agar jale nahin

tuf hai un aankhon pe jo KHud mein ulajh kar rah jaen
wo nigah kya jo yahan take wahan jhanke nahin

be-niyazana jiye jate hain apni dhun mein
bankpan kho na kahin jae nahin hae nahin
