اس قدر خشک گلو رکھتے تھے سرور ہے ہے

شمر کا حلق پہ چلتا نہ تھا خنجر ہے ہے

آسماں سرخ ہوا, آندھیاں دھرتی پہ چلیں

خوں میں جب ڈوبا بنِ ساقیِ کوثر ہے ہے

اسپ سے گرتے ہوئے شہ نے یہ سوچا ہو گا

کاش آ جاتا کہیں سے مرا اکبر ہے ہے

وہ بھی اک دن تھا کہ مسند تھی تری پشت رسول

عصرِ عاشور ملا تیروں کا بستر ہے ہے

اب قیامت کی کوئی اور گھڑی کیا ہو گی

فاطمہ آ گئیں مقتل میں کھلے سر ہے ہے

سات سو کرسی نشیں اور محمّد کے حرم

سر کھلے سب ہیں نہ مقنع ہے نہ چادر ہے ہے

کم تھا کیا ظلم کہ بچی کو طمانچے مارے

اور پھر کھینچ لئے کانوں سے گوہر ہے ہے

پاؤں عابد کے سلاسل میں و پر خار ڈگر

خار کی نوک تھی جیسے کوئی نشتر ہے ہے

لوگ شارب کو صدا دیتے ہیں شاعر کہہ کر

کہہ دیں مولا بھی کبھی میرے سخنور ہے ہے
