جیتنے معرکۂ دل وہ لگاتار گیا

جس گھڑی فتح کا اعلان ہوا ہار گیا

تھک کے لوٹ آئے علم دار مساوات آخر

دور تک سلسلۂ اندک و بسیار گیا

جس کو سب سہل طلب جان کے کرتے تھے گریز

اک وہی شخص سوئے منزل دشوار گیا

ان دنوں ذہن کی دنیا میں ہے مصروف بشر

دل کی تہذیب گئی درد کا بیوہار گیا

ہم گنہ گاروں سے با معنی رہا حشر کا دن

ورنہ یہ سارا ہی منصوبہ تھا بیکار گیا

سازؔ ہے دل زدہ اب بھی ترے شعروں کے طفیل

ہم تو سمجھے تھے کہ اے میر یہ آزار گیا
