روز وحشت ہے مرے شہر میں ویرانی کی
اب کوئی بات نہیں بات پریشانی کی
میرے دریا کبھی دریا بھی ہوا کرتے تھے
اب بھی آواز سی آتی ہے مجھے پانی کی
آئنہ خانے کے باہر وہ مجھے پوچھتے ہیں
آئنہ خانے میں کیا بات تھی حیرانی کی
اب غزالاں سے کہو چھپ کے کہیں بیٹھ رہیں
آمد آمد ہے کسی غول بیابانی کی
ہم کھلے گھر کے مکینوں کی یہی عادت ہے
ہم نہ دربان ہوئے اور نہ دربانی کی
یاد کر لینا بہتر کی کہانی باقیؔ
جنگ چھڑ جائے کسی وقت اگر پانی کی

aaina-KHane ke bahar wo mujhe puchhte hain
aaina-KHane mein kya baat thi hairani ki
ab ghazalan se kaho chhup ke kahin baiTh rahen
aamad aamad hai kisi ghul-e-bayabani ki
hum khule ghar ke makinon ki yahi aadat hai
hum na darban hue aur na darbani ki
yaad kar lena bahattar ki kahani 'baqi'
jang chhiD jae kisi waqt agar pani ki
