بک گئے ہم ایک سپنے کے لئے
قطرے قطرے پر لکھی ہے داستاں
آئے گا کیا کوئی پڑھنے کے لئے
ایسی عادت غم کی ہم کو ہو گئی
چاہیے غم کوئی ہنسنے کے لئے
پہلے نوچا ہے پروں کو اور پھر
کر دیا آزاد اڑنے کے لئے
سوچتے ہیں آستیں کو دیکھ کر
کیا انہیں پالا تھا ڈسنے کے لئے
دوست دشمن غیر اپنے اجنبی
تاک میں بیٹھے ہیں ڈنکنے کے لئے
کتنے ہیں تیار دنیا میں جواں
دیپ کی مانند جلنے کے لئے
تیری کیا اوقات ہے آنندؔ جب
شمس بھی مجبور ڈھلنے کے لئے

kya unhen pala tha Dasne ke liye
dost dushman ghair apne ajnabi
tak mein baiThe hain Dankne ke liye
kitne hain tayyar duniya mein jawan
dip ki manind jalne ke liye
teri kya auqat hai 'anand' jab
shams bhi majbur Dhalne ke liye
