میری وحشت کا جو افسانہ بنایا ہوتا

سننے والوں کو بھی دیوانہ بنایا ہوتا

ان کے لانے کی نہ سوجھی تجھے قاصد تدبیر

جھوٹ سچ کوئی تو افسانہ بنایا ہوتا

دیکھتے تم کہ سنور جاتے نہ گیسو کیسے

میری پلکوں کا اگر شانہ بنایا ہوتا

مر کے بھی روح نہ پینے کو ترستی ساقی

میری مٹی سے جو پیمانہ بنایا ہوتا

تم نے زلفوں کو بنا کر ہمیں دیوانہ کیا

کیا بگڑتا تھا تمہارا نہ بنایا ہوتا

دل جو واعظ کا بنایا تھا الٰہی پتھر

کاش سنگ در مے خانہ بنایا ہوتا

دل وحشی جو چھٹا مجھ سے بہت خوب ہوا

ورنہ اب تک مجھے دیوانہ بنایا ہوتا

وسعت دل جو کوئی پیر مغاں دکھلایا

ایک اک جام کو مے خانہ بنایا ہوتا

منہ سے آنچل جو ہٹاتا وہ سر بزم جلیلؔ

بہ خدا شمع کو پروانہ بنایا ہوتا
