تمام عمر جلے اور روشنی نہیں کی

یہ زندگی ہے تو پھر ہم نے زندگی نہیں کی

ستم تو یہ ہے کہ میرے خلاف بولتے ہیں

وہ لوگ جن سے کبھی میں نے بات بھی نہیں کی

جو دل میں آتا گیا صدق دل سے لکھتا گیا

دعائیں مانگی ہیں میں نے تو شاعری نہیں کی

بس اتنا ہے کہ مرا بخت ڈھل گیا اور پھر

مرے چراغ نے بھی مجھ پہ روشنی نہیں کی

مری سپاہ سے دنیا لرزنے لگتی ہے

مگر تمہاری تو میں نے برابری نہیں کی

کچھ اس لیے بھی اکیلا سا ہو گیا ہوں ندیمؔ

سبھی کو دوست بنایا ہے دشمنی نہیں کی
