ہر نفس اپنا اذیت کوش ہے

زندگی کیا ہے وبال دوش ہے

کائنات دل ہے اور سوز فراق

زندگی اک محشر خاموش ہے

بحر الفت کا کہیں ساحل نہیں

عاشقی بیگانۂ آغوش ہے

کس نے چھیڑا نغمۂ حسن وفا

جس کو دیکھو وہ ہمہ تن گوش ہے

تم بھی آکر یہ تماشا دیکھ لو

موت سے ناشادؔ ہم آغوش ہے

har-nafas apna aziyyat-kosh hai
zindagi kya hai wabaal-e-dosh hai

kaenat-e-dil hai aur soz-e-firaq
zindagi ek mahshar-e-KHamosh hai

bahr-e-ulfat ka kahin sahil nahin
aashiqi begana-e-aghosh hai

kis ne chheDa naghma-e-husn-e-wafa
jis ko dekho wo hama-tan-gosh hai

tum bhi aakar ye tamasha dekh lo
maut se 'nashad' ham-aghosh hai
