کس کو معلوم تھا اک روز کہ یوں ہونا تھا

رئیس الدین رئیس

کس کو معلوم تھا اک روز کہ یوں ہونا تھا

مستقل ضبط کا انجام جنوں ہونا تھا

عمر بھر زیست کے کاغذ پہ مشقت لکھنا

یعنی اک شخص کا اس طرح بھی خوں ہونا تھا

بے حسی ملتی مجھے شہر میں جینے کے لیے

یا مرا دست ہنر دست فسوں ہونا تھا

فاصلہ قرب کی ساعت میں سمٹ سکتا تھا

سر جھکا تھا تو ترا دل بھی نگوں ہونا تھا

بنتے رہنا تھا رئیسؔ آس کے تانے بانے

کچھ تو جینے کے لیے وجہ سکوں ہونا تھا

mustaqil zabt ka anjam junun hona tha

umr bhar zist ke kaghaz pe mashaqqat likhna
yani ek shaKHs ka is tarah bhi KHun hona tha

be-hisi milti mujhe shahr mein jine ke liye
ya mera dast-e-hunar dast-e-fusun hona tha

fasla qurb ki saat mein simaT sakta tha
sar jhuka tha to tera dil bhi nigun hona tha

bunte rahna tha 'rais' aas ke tane-bane
kuchh to jine ke liye wajh-e-sukun hona tha
