اشک پینے پہ رہے درد چھپانے پہ رہے
ایک سچ بول کے کس کس کے نشانے پہ رہے
عمر بھر حسن ترے ناز اٹھانے پہ رہے
آب آنکھوں میں لئے آگ بجھانے پہ رہے
تم پرندے تھے گئے آئے گئے پھر آئے
پیڑ تھے ہم تو سدا ایک ٹھکانے پہ رہے
ہم سے چھوڑی نہ گئی ارض وطن کی مٹی
اپنے اجداد کی قبروں کے بہانے پہ رہے
مفلسی بھوک یہ بچہ یہ کھلونے کی دکان
بوجھ اتنا نہ کسی باپ کے شانے پہ رہے
ایسے موسم میں تمہیں یاد بہت آؤں گا
جب ہوا سرخ گلابوں کو جلانے پہ رہے
جب بھی شب خون قبیلے پہ عدو نے مارا
جتنے سردار تھے سب جان بچانے پہ رہے
مجھ سے ہر سانس پہ مانگا گیا شدت سے خراج
میرے احسان ادھر سارے زمانے پہ رہے
تاج غیروں نے مرے سر پہ سجائے بزمیؔ
میرے اپنے مری دستار گرانے پہ رہے

apne ajdad ki qabron ke bahane pe rahe
muflisi bhuk ye bachcha ye khilaune ki dukan
bojh itna na kisi bap ke shane pe rahe
aise mausam mein tumhein yaad bahut aaunga
jab hawa surKH gulabon ko jalane pe rahe
jab bhi shab-KHun qabile pe adu ne mara
jitne sardar the sab jaan bachane pe rahe
mujh se har sans pe manga gaya shiddat se KHiraj
mere ehsan idhar sare zamane pe rahe
taj ghairon ne mere sar pe sajae 'bazmi'
mere apne meri dastar girane pe rahe
