شہر کے دیوار و در پر رت کی زردی چھائی تھی
ہر شجر ہر پیڑ کی قسمت میں اب تنہائی تھی
جینے والوں کا مقدر شہرتیں بنتی رہیں
مرنے والوں کے لیے اب دشت کی تنہائی تھی
چشم پوشی کا کسی ذی ہوش کو یارا نہ تھا
رت صلیب و دار کی اس شہر میں پھر آئی تھی
میں نے ظلمت کے فسوں سے بھاگنا چاہا مگر
میرے پیچھے بھاگتی پھرتی مری رسوائی تھی
بارشوں کی رت میں کوئی کیا لکھے آخر سعیدؔ
لفظ کے چہروں کی رنگت بھی بہت دھندلائی تھی

har shajar har peD ki qismat mein ab tanhai thi
jine walon ka muqaddar shohraten banti rahin
marne walon ke liye ab dasht ki tanhai thi
chashm-poshi ka kisi zi-hosh ko yara na tha
rut salib-o-dar ki is shahr mein phir aai thi
main ne zulmat ke fusun se bhagna chaha magar
mere pichhe bhagti phirti meri ruswai thi
barishon ki rut mein koi kya likhe aaKHir 'said'
lafz ke chehron ki rangat bhi bahut dhundlai thi
