وہ حُسن اور جمال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

وہ حُسن اور جمال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

آنکھوں میں اِک سوال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

وہ جس طرف گیا ہے اُدھر خوشبوئیں گئیں

پھولوں کی ایک ڈال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

آواز وہ کہ جیسے بجیں جلترنگ کہیں

لہجہ بھی کیا کمال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

چلتا تھا ایسے جیسے کہ بَن میں کوئی ہرن

خوشبو کی اوڑھے شال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

رعنائیاں جہان کی سب ماند پڑ گئیں

وہ حُسنِ بے مثال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

میں اُس کے انگ انگ پہ لکھتا رہا غزل

شاعر کا وہ خیال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

تھے محوِرقص ساتھ میں غنچہ، کلی، گلاب

ڈالے وہ اِک دھمال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی

اور اُس کے حسنِ ناز پہ میں کیا لکھوں اے فَضْلْؔ

ْوہ پریوں کی ہمال تھا اور ہاتھ میں کتاب تھی
