رہ رہ کے زبانی کبھی تحریر سے ہم نے

قائل کیا اس کو اسی تدبیر سے ہم نے

کس سمت لیے جاتے ہو اور کیا ہے ارادہ

پوچھا نہ کبھی اپنے عناں گیر سے ہم نے

دل پر کوئی قابو نہ رہا جب تو کسی طور

باندھا ہے یہ وحشی تری زنجیر سے ہم نے

ہر بار مدد کے لیے اوروں کو پکارا

یا کام لیا نعرۂ تکبیر سے ہم نے

بہتر ہے کہ اب کام کوئی اور کیا کر

یہ بھی نہ کہا کاتب تقدیر سے ہم نے

اپنی ہی کرامات دکھاتے رہے سب کو

سرقہ نہ کیا معجزۂ میرؔ سے ہم نے

تخریب تو کرتے رہے سو طرح کی لیکن

یہ کام کیا جذبۂ تعمیر سے ہم نے

اب دیکھیے کیا اس کا نکلتا ہے نتیجہ

ماتھا ہے لگایا ہوا تاثیر سے ہم نے

وہ بام تماشا ہوا غائب تو ظفرؔ آج

لٹکا لیا خود کو کسی شہتیر سے ہم نے
