وہ لمحہ کہ خاموشیٔ شب نغمہ سرا تھی

کانوں پہ گراں دل کے دھڑکنے کی صدا تھی

جس موڑ پہ چھوڑی ہے سہاروں کی تمنا

کہتے ہیں بڑا قہر وہی لغزش پا تھی

کیوں آج دھواں بن کے افق تا بہ افق ہے

اس سانس میں کلیوں کے چٹکنے کی صدا تھی

ہر لمحۂ بیتاب نے ڈھونڈی ہیں پناہیں

گونجی تھی خموشی تری آواز تو کیا تھی

ہر دن کے صحیفے پہ ترا نام لکھا ہے

ہر شب کی جبیں تیرا نشان کف پا تھی

کیا کہتے کہ ہونٹوں پہ بس اک حرف وفا تھا

کیا کیجیے ہر سانس جو تعزیر وفا تھی

اٹھتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے دھواں آتش گل سے

کیا نکہت برباد جلے دل کی دعا تھی

کیا جانئے مرنا بھی روا ہے کہ نہیں ہے

تکوین کے لب پر مرے جینے کی دعا تھی
