دلوں کو رنج یہ کیسا ہے یہ خوشی کیا ہے

یہ ظلمتوں سے اجالوں کی ہمدمی کیا ہے

ہوائیں شہر سے روتی ہوئی گزرتی ہیں

دلوں میں خوف کی یہ ایک لہر سی کیا ہے

اداسیوں کی یہ پرچھائیاں سی دور تلک

مہہ‌ و نجوم کی آنکھوں میں یہ نمی کیا ہے

یہ کھلکھلاتے در و بام میں گھٹن کیسی

یہ جگمگاتے مکانوں میں تیرگی کیا ہے

بھرے جہان میں بن باس کی یہ کیفیت

ہر ایک سمت نہ جانے یہ گونج سی کیا ہے

ترے خیال میں کٹتی ہے عمر پھر بھی ہم

یہ سوچتے ہیں کہ اپنی بھی زندگی کیا ہے

تمازتوں میں بس اک خشک پیڑ کی چھاؤں

ہے جس پہ ناز بہت وہ بھی آگہی کیا ہے

یہ اشک اشک سے خوابوں میں رونقیں کیسی

یہ داغ داغ تمنا میں تازگی کیا ہے

ملے ہیں دکھ تو ہمیں روز ہی ترے در سے

مگر یہ آج دکھوں میں نئی خوشی کیا ہے
