یاد کیا کیا لوگ دشت بے کراں میں آئے تھے

رنگ لیکن کب یہ چشم خوں فشاں میں آئے تھے

کس تمنا سے تمہیں دیکھا تھا کس چاہت سے ہم

رقص کرتے حلقۂ وارفتگاں میں آئے تھے

صورتیں کیا کیا دل آئینہ گر میں بس گئیں

ہم سے بے صورت بھی تو بزم جہاں میں آئے تھے

سادگی سے ہم نے سمجھا تھا ہمارا ذکر ہے

تذکرے کچھ اور ہی ان کے بیاں میں آئے تھے

ہر نئی مشکل پہ ہم سوچا کئے ہیں دیر تک

لوگ پہلے بھی تو کچھ شہر بتاں میں آئے تھے

یہ گل تر کی سی خوشبو کس طرف سے آ گئی

ہم بگولے تھے بھلا کب گلستاں میں آئے تھے

کیوں ہمارے سانس بھی ہوتے ہیں لوگوں پر گراں

ہم بھی تو اک عمر لے کر اس جہاں میں آئے تھے
